Business Challenges

This 100+ year old insurance provider engaged with Oakwood Systems Group to evaluate the differences between upgrading a TFS 2010 Server to either Azure DevOps Server or Azure DevOps Services.

During our discovery phase, they had three dedicated servers: one running the portal, one running the database and one for the build server. Licensing for both approaches were considered.

The end solution was to migrate their TFS 2010 Server to Azure DevOps Services. Moving resources into the cloud alleviated three Microsoft Windows Server licenses and a Microsoft SQL Server license. After migration, the company moved the charges from CapEx to OpEx with a recurring $6/user per month charge, with no hardware maintenance or licensing beyond that!

Technologies Leveraged
