Moving Workloads to Azure

Be confident. We’ll be here every step of the way.

It’s more a business decision than a technical decision…

Can I trust Oakwood as our cloud migration partner?

We’d like to think so!

As a Microsoft Solutions Partner, we’ve been helping small businesses and enterprise organizations realize the numerous benefits in leveraging Microsoft’s Azure Cloud. Our team is packed full of certified Azure engineers and enough developers for your application modernization efforts that it will make your head spin.

One of our big objectives was to eliminate $3 million in capital costs over about three years, and to reduce our operating costs by approximately the same amount. At the same time, we wanted to improve our quality of service. With Azure, we’re confident that we’ll meet those goals.

The Oakwood Process

Been there. Done that.

Our team lives and breathes cloud migrations. So much so that we’ve developed a proven approach that will ensure success.

1. Readiness Assessment

During our Azure Readiness Assessment we’ll analyze your workloads using real-time consumption metrics and application dependencies to estimate costs and build a migration plan specific to your organization.

3. Migrate

Here we’ll leverage Oakwood’s Cloud Ascent tools to help identify dependencies and application groupings and to assist with application prioritization.

2. Foundations

At this time we’ll begin to architect your Azure tenant based on access and administrative and security requirements specific to your organization with the following goals.

4. Optimize & Manage

As cloud adoption continues to gather momentum, optimizing and managing cloud infrastructure resources and applications becomes critical to achieve expected cloud performance and savings.

Application Modernization

Many organizations are looking to quickly take advantage of the scalability, cost efficiencies and improved performance of the cloud by migrating their existing applications and workloads. But cloud migration requires careful planning and strategy. One of the keys to cloud success is to determine the optimal platform and priorities for running business applications. Once considered optional, these applications are now central to infrastructure decisions and achieving company goals.

To enable a successful migration, it’s important to have a strong plan in place that covers the end-cloud environment, training, and, most importantly, the readiness of your workloads and applications. To do this, you need to determine how to successfully create the initial technical plans and business justification, ensure your workloads will run as expected, and perform the migration with limited impact on the business.

Moving Workloads to Azure

During this hour-long event, members of Oakwood’s Azure and Application Modernization teams demonstrated the use of the Azure Migrate Tool where on-premise servers, infrastructure, applications and data are assessed.  It’s here where they also touched on certain limitations of this tool and when to leverage the Movere SaaS platform.  They also took some time in demonstrating migrating databases, moving to IaaS / PaaS and Containers.
